THE MICHIGAN GREAT LAKES IAFN IS A STATEWIDE CHAPTER OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FORENSIC NURSES (IAFN). 

IAFN IS AN INTERNATIONAL MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATION COMPRISED OF FORENSIC NURSES WORKING AROUND THE WORLD AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS WHO SUPPORT AND COMPLEMENT THE WORK OF FORENSIC NURSING.

OUR CHAPTER MISSION

To provide leadership in forensic nursing practice by developing, promoting and disseminating information for the improvement of nursing practice for our members that provide care to those affected by violence.

COMMON GOALS

  • Connection of members through a variety of platforms to enhance and promote professional networking.

  • Circulation of and discussion surrounding current research and available resources/trainings to guide best practice within the State of Michigan.

  • Development of six annual 90-minute Chapter Webinars.

  • Development of one annual Chapter Symposiums with CE provided.

  • Development of additional membership educational and case review opportunities.

  • Membership involvement in the continued growth of the Great Lakes Chapter.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

The Education Committee facilitates the planning, development, and implementation of evidence-based continuing education offered by the Great Lakes Chapter of the IAFN to its members in the forensic nursing community.

The Education Committee assists in planning education and skills throughout the year and works with the Board & Membership Committee on annual Michigan IAFN Conference planning.

LEGISLATIVE COMMITEE

The 2022 Boots on the Ground Initiative came from the continued chorus of practicing SANEs wishing to impact how proposed policies affect their practice, as well survivor outcomes!​

We are looking for Chapter Members who want to voice their position on proposed policies that impact forensic nursing practice.  We hope that you will join our team!
